Siriu area is situated in the heart of the Carpathians, in the North-Western side of the county of Buzau. This area of a breathtaking beauty is situated alongside DN 10 (National Road no. 10) which links the city of Buzau and the city of Brasov.

ORIZONT INN is located in the center of the village of Siriu and represents a local reference point for both tourists or other people.

Located in the North-Western part of the county of Buzau, at half distance between the two cities (70 km to from Buzau and 76 km from Brasov), with a population of 3300 inhabitants, the town of Siriu is the last settlement of the county of Buzau on this direction, situated in a mountain area of exquisite beauty. The villages that make up this town are situated both alongside the valley but also on the hills that surround the center.

Here has been built a dam with a base of about 800 m in width, the biggest enterprise of this kind from Romania and from SE Europe, whose building started in January 1972 and ended in 1994. [details...]

The lake which resulted from the building of the dam ha a length of about 11 km and is sided by a road which further sides the Buzau river, and which is built on the higher part of the valley, with viaducts and bridges.

Siriu is the birth place of the famous country music singer Benone Sinulescu whose house, built in a specific Romanian architectural style and having a forever-in-bloom garden is a delight for the eye.

In his honor and with his participation, every year, on one of the banks of the lake, in a natural amphitheatre we hold a festival in free air named “Cat este Siriu de mare” which has reached in 2003 its third edition.

Even though unexplored yet, from the touristic point of view, the area has an extraordinary potential and can easily compete with many well-known regions
